This 2005 Lotus Elise has been a great car for road and track. I bought the car for weekend drives and track days at VIR. In September 2016 the original Toyota 2ZZ motor blew while on track at VIR with an oil pump failure. After research on issues with the 2ZZ, I decided that rather than replace with a built Toyota motor, I would completely change the drivetrain to a built Honda K20 setup. The motor and trans are from a 2003 RSX-S. The engine has much more power available, but tuning into the 350+ range would require a different transmission to put the power down.Negatives: The paint is great from 5 feet but up close it shows marks, especially from track debris and removal of the clamshells during mechanical work. A/C is plumbed with original Toyota condensor custom bracketed to the Honda engine, but not currently charged. The car has a common issue with the blower motor resistor. An HVAC specialist would be needed to solve these two issues, I don't have the tools to do so.Since this is a unique car I fully expect a serious buyer will have questions. He purchased from his friend, the original owner when the oil bust hit in 2008. It had 18000 miles on it when in 2014 and I've put a little more than 3000 on it. Mostly during spirited rides around the countryside of Austin. It has been fun, but this time in my life has passed and it is time for this car to enjoyed by the next owner. It has never been tracked. It has been garaged all its life, by myself and previous owners. Well cared for. Comes with soft top and hard top. 2006 Elise Sport. For the serious Lotus collector. Badged #48 of 50 Special Editions but CERTIFIED by Lotus to be the FIRST of 50 built. Includes Certificate of Vehicle Provenance (see photo). In 2006 the Lotus Sport Team hand-built 50 Special Editions all in a special Saffron Yellow with painted Titanium stripes and a custom yellow and black leather and Alcantara interior (the regular Elise was not offered in Saffron Yellow and did not offer the special seats). My car was the first built and has the lowest VIN number of the 50 cars. Each car was given a build number and mine was numbered #48 (I was told the car was badged #48 to honor the 48 authorized dealers). Car #48 was used by Lotus North America in 2006 as the Official Press Car for the launch of the Special Editions and was featured in numerous National Magazine articles in 2006 including Autoweek, Car and Driver etc (copies of articles available). In the Autoweek article they indicate car #48 was their test vehicle (see photo). After used by Lotus North America, the car was sold at Lotus Beverly Hills and has remained in Southern California since. This is a significant Lotus and totally original (not modified) which is important for limited edition models. Only 19.341 miles. Condition inside and out is excellent. Includes factory hardtop plus the soft top. All the tools and factory manuals. Built in Navigation unit. Custom Elise Sport features like racing harness, special floor mats and adjustable shocks. Recent service (oil, filter and coolant). Tires 90% tread. Many Elises for sale which are great for track (mostly much higher mileage) but this car is for a more serious collector. Price lowered!
